The driving operations on the Vadlaheidi
tunnel in Iceland have been completed by the consortium Marti
Contractors and IAV.
The excavation works on the cavern, the shafts and the tunnels were completed in due time at the end of 2016.
The 5,8 kilometers long Nordnes tunnel in the province of Tromsö in northern Norway was successfully broken through on the 7th December 2016.
Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) contracted Marti GmbH in Graz and Marti Tunnelbau AG in Moosseedorf to conduct the works on the third lot of the 27km long Semmering base tunnel.
Marti was contracted to construct the hydropower station for the National Power Company of Iceland Landvirkjun. The excavation and blasting works for the portals leading to the underground power plant have begun on schedule in May.
